Vince Young: 14 of 23 for 110 yards, no passing touchdowns, and 2 interceptions.

Actually, hell, let's just look at Vince Young's performances for the season:
    @ JAC - 11 of 18 for 78 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT
    vs IND - 17 of 27 for 184 yards, 1 TD, and 0 INTs
    @ NOR - 14 of 22 for 164 yards, 2 TDs, and 1 INT
    vs ATL - 20 of 33 for 157 yards, 0 TDs, and 3 INTs
    @ TAM - 11 of 14 for 120 yards, 0 TDs, and 1 INT
    vs OAK - 6 of 14 for 42 yards, 0 TDs, and 0 INTs

Tennessee has won 6 of his 8 starts.

    That's fantastic, ain't it?

But it's not how Fisher would prefer it. It doesn't excuse Young's horrific inability to play the position.

Vince Young is not a good quarterback and neither is David Carr, but he's a perfect example of what I'm talking about. David Carr is not the main or even a large reason why we're losing games.

Carr is not directly responsible for any of our losses.

He's the kid at the dance who just wants to chill, have a punch, chat with some friends, and go home to mom's. Delhomme's the guy in the back of his dad's Wagoneer, getting blown.

Carr's the anti-gunslinger, which has been refreshing at times. But he's almost to synthetic, too clinical at times. He seems to over-think his way through a play/series/game (to your point, he doesn't often tuck the ball and gain a sure 6 yards.)

    I just want two things:

    1. Better offensive lineman.
    2. An assertive quarterback.

True. As I keep pointing out, I said before the season that I hoped Carr wouldn't play a down because it seems like he has the football version of PTSD and really needed a year to decompress and regain his feel for the position. The fact that he looks rattled is obvious, just as his flaws are, but what bothers me is that people keep blaming him for everything when the truth is that he's not been bad. He hasn't been good either, but Carr is the scapegoat even though the team has much, much bigger problems.

Safety is still a major issue, and today's inferior pass-game opponent shouldn't totally mask that.

I think our front seven has settled in nicely. No complaints there that can't be fixed.

Our offensive line is just not very good. I have no faith in Gross--he's undisciplined, weak and soft. Wharton showed how average he is today. Wahle is just eating dollars, and Hartwig has disappointed. Bridges = :th_10_8_12:

the word "pedestrian" comes to mind. Rather Dilfer-ish when he was in BAL.

Collin--spot on with the original post. ST are slitting the Panthers throats. It's damn depressing watching other teams in the league have return men run the ball 20+ on virtually every kickoff (i.e. the NE-IND game, DAL-PHI).

Carr--meh. There has to be some way for him to see 89 no matter where he is. 89 could be selling popcorn in the seats, and that should still be Carr's first read. The lack of touches for Smith is inexcusable. Run a reverse. The smoke screen pass. Direct snap. I'm half tempted to want him back on punt returns, just so he has his hands on the rock. Carr was more pedestrian than Young, but his lack of stretching the field is disturbing.

Defense kept the game respectable in score only. The D was all over theplace--Beason, Lucas, Gamble, Rucker....Diggs with a club cast on his hand was somewhat there too. Last time we saw Peppers was on a milk carton.

It's not as bad as it could be--another non-conference, non-divisional loss....could be worse, but ATL comes in off a win on Sunday.

Most people would prefer something more than attendance from the starting QB. He's not the entire problem, and most rational people aren't saying that, but he should be better than this in my opinion. If you thought he was going to be this bad, then great, but I'd rather him just play to his ability.

I laffted when the announcers said something about Ryne Robinson "taking it to the house"...I was thinking it would be nice if he could take it to the 30.

Carr SHOULD be better than he has played. He gets a little relief for the back injury, but as we all know, he's not the sole reason this thing stunk today.
