I agree, and moreover, 70% of our points allowed were due to Carr distracting the defense. 70% of our casualties in Iraq were due to Carr not bringing the Sunni and Shi'a together. 70% of global warming is due to the products Carr uses on his hair. 70% of Katrina was due to Carr holding back FEMA too long. Hell, even 70% of your stupidity is due to Carr dropping you on your head as a baby.

I completely agree. As soon as Carr took over I called for Davidson to include more bootlegs and roll-outs, but I also want Carr to actually tuck and run when nothing is open. If it's 2nd and 10 but you can get 3 yards instead of throwing it away, that gives you a better shot on third down. And if you run a bootleg with a run/pass option on third and short, that gives you an alternative if no one is open.
Can you believe that even I didn't expect people to blame Carr for the sacks and that they'd actually realize that the offensive line had a horrible day? How fucking naive am I? I guess I have too much faith in humanity.

Everyone else should observe the "If you want to argue the points, then argue the points. Don't come up at me with bullshit" line. If you can't follow that, shut the fuck up and stay out of my thread.

Dude, props to you for doing the breakdown (BIG props), but at the same time FUCK YOU if you think own this or any thread. Why you got to ruin your contribution with this negativity? Just telling people to stay out of your thread is going to make half the posters here needle and pick at you.

Carr doesn't suck statistically, because he absolutely never tries to do anything but tuck into the fetal position. Has Carr ever actually made a play in his career, above and beyond the statistics? Brady made some plays today, and he won the game, even if he did have less than 100yards throwing at the half and like 3 INTs for the game.

The only reason Carr doesn't outright suck is because he is careful. Too careful. He doesn't really play to win. But his carefulness is what has kept him in the league (though not for much longer after this year, I suspect).

    This offense is predictable.

I knew every time they were about to do a draw play but once. My 13 year old nephew was rolling on the floor laughing because it's so obvious.

When we pass, the receivers do not know where the 1st down marker is.

Carr doesn't just have bad pocket presense, he has none.
When Freeny flew around the tackle in the colts/pats game, Brady would just revolve around the tackle to keep him between him and the end. Carr steps into the cross hairs.

I think we knew Carr had a tendency to hold the ball, like Weinke, but that he could also pick up an occasional 1st down with his legs. He did that sort of thing in Houston. For some reason, he's not doing it as much as he could here.

John Fox and Marty Hurney Should Be Fired for Subjecting Us to David Carr

    [IMG]Posted Nov 4th 2007 5:10PM by David J. Warner
Filed under: Panthers, NFC South, Charlotte, Carolina
[IMG]Somebody in Charlotte needs to hold an intervention. We need to put Carolina Panthers head coach John Fox and GM Marty Hurney in a room together and tell them, "Look, we like you guys. You put together a pretty decent defense, and it's not really your fault that Jake Delhomme hurt his elbow and can't play right now. But if you don't bench David Carr now, you should start polishing your résumés, because you'll be needing them in January."

Seriously, I haven't seen a sorrier excuse for an NFL quarterback since Aaron Brooks was throwing passes backwards in New Orleans. Mister Mittens has all the playmaking ability of ... well, me. And I couldn't throw a spiral until my junior year in college, when a lesbian friend of mine showed me how.

Even I know, however, that if the rush is coming, I need to get rid of the damn ball. David Carr doesn't. He cannot lead an offense, and judging from all the personal fouls called on Carolina today, Carr's inability to do anything on offense is clearly frustrating the rest of the team.

The sad thing is that Carolina Panthers could have signed any number of decent backup quarterbacks during the offseason. Even Joey Harrington would have been a better solution than Carr. Just look at their numbers:

Harrington: 63.4% completion rate, 6.6 yards per attempt, passer rating of 80.9
Carr: 55.2% completion rate, 5.0 yards per attempt, passer rating of 66.9

Keep in mind that Harrington is putting up those numbers with sketchy receivers and a lousy offensive line. He's not the reason Atlanta hasn't won a lot of games.

But no, Hurney chose Carr during the offseason, and when Delhomme went down with an elbow injury, the Panthers offense went down with him. Vinny Testaverde, who is approaching his 44th birthday, is 100 times the quarterback that Carr is.

The situation is boiling over in Charlotte, and there's only one solution -- bench David Carr now, then cut him at season's end and bring in a real quarterback. Right now, I don't care that Testaverde is still hurt, or that Matt Moore is a rookie who has thrown only a handful of passes. Right now, Matt Moore is still a better option than David Carr.

The sad thing is that John Fox and Marty Hurney will probably get a pass this season because of Delhomme's elbow injury. They shouldn't. They made this bed, and it's high time that they changed the sheets. If Fox doesn't change the quarterback next week, he and Hurney should be fired.
