It was Simms 1st start, and he played badly. I'm not so sure.

No, you're not. You're going on what you want to see, because it's what you say every single week. It's absolutely true that we blitzed a lot. We brought pressure off the edge and up the middle, but Orton kept getting the ball out quickly.

Yes, but I think the odds are much better with a FG in your pocket, and only needing one touchdown. We probably weren't going to convert a 4th and 13 in that area of the field, and we had time for two more possessions, but the defense couldn't come though fast enough.

You should listen to yourself. Now youre just making things up, and thats what you so often accuse other of.

Its what I say every week. No, I dont. I said it earlier in the year, and I was right.

You say we brought pressure up the middle and the edge, but we didnt. We rarely pressured. We blitzed, but not enough. Too often, we sat back and rushed four or three on passing downs. You go from we "probably" did, to now being sure. Only, youre wrong. You can post what you will, but it doesnt take away from the fact youre still wrong.

You are counting on two three and outs, which didn't happen. Our D was worn out by that point.

We blitzed more as time went on. Had to. The one where Gamble got his PI, for instance.

Orton made some nice reads, and they always got picked up. An O-line clinic. I remember wishing for Fred Miller in the offseason. That might have been wiser money than huge money on a guard.

At that point, I cant look at it as 3 or 6. We needed two scores period, with very little time left. If it was the third quarter, Ida been fine with it.

BUt we STILL needed two scores. Still, with hardly any time left. You go for the TD there. Theres no excuse. Well, there is one, and its ours. We didnt want to get shut out.

For the first, and hopefully last time, I am going to quote noted meathead Bill Mass:

"It just looks like this Carolina team is on Ny-Quill".

I hate to say it, but I can not think of a better way to sum up what I just saw. Other than, of couse: It was a disgraceful ass-kicking.

And another field goal. As I keep saying, you don't have time for all that when it's halfway through the fourth quarter. The only way you could do it would be to get the two three and outs Piper mentioned, and then to get down the field much more rapidly than we had shown we could. It wasn't going to happen, and I'd rather go down being aggressive than play to avoid the shutout.

We did blitz a bit more in the end. But near the end, we still rushed four too often. Im not making a big stink about it, because like I said, our D wasnt the blame for this loss AT ALL. I was hoping however, wed force Orton into some mistakes, but he had time all day long.

I dont know where to begin with the OL. SOme have said it, and its true, that the nonexistant running game has to be part of what is making Delhomme poor in games. I cant for the life of me, understand why we suck so bad there. Im wondering if Wahle playing LT and Wharton staying in at G wouldve worked out better there.
