True, but a wonderlic score of nine also got us the NFC's leader in interceptions last year.

I watched that play and it finally hit me -- it's that shifted formation that leads to nobody watching the middle of the field. :banginghe

Morgan shoots a gap and 'Spoon covers in the flat, picking up the HB usually. The SLB almost always backpedals for about 10 yards in zone coverage on the z receiver and is taken completely out of the play, or is stoned on the outside blitz. Freaking safeties play way back (usually to help out the corners -- especially Gamble) and are also a nonfactor in the first 10-15 yards from the LOS.

So all of that leads to the perimeters covered (sometimes doubly or triply so), but a great big donut hole in the middle of the coverage scheme where fullbacks and tight ends can play.

Or am I totally off my rocker?

It really was. I was thoroughly impressed. Textbook. That film ought to be used as a training tool on how to defend against the screen.

That's what I was thinking, too.

Not only that, but he hit at an awkward angle. I was thinking, "Great -- now he's remembered how to catch, he'll be out for the rest of the season with a cracked vertebrae or something."

That's exactly what I said. Right up until the failed 4th down conversion. I was actually surprised GB came up short.

Me, but for no money or anything else that would take time to send. Collin or someone posted the rule several weeks ago. You can't hit a defenseless player in the head. I think that meant a WR while catching the ball, the QB, and probably a K or P. Madden specifically said the rule does not apply to the ball carrier. He's in a position to defend himself, and it would be too hard to apply the rule. Madden did say the reason the guy probably got hit in the head was he had to turn around to get the ball, and may not have got himself re-oriented to defending himself yet.
