I thought you were talking about the part where he said if he's product as Moss.

I figured he meant Moose. I could see that

"Gardner's best season came in 2002, when he caught 71 passes for 1,006 yards and eight touchdowns." Hell, that aint half bad.

I like the move, but it does create a logjam at WR.

I honestly don't see -- barring injury of course -- any way that Smith and Gardner don't wind up WR1 and WR2 by the end of camp. Like everyone's been saying, Gardner's the closest thing to Moose 2.0 available.

That means the battle for #3 is between Colbert, Carter, and probably Proehl. Honestly, I think Colbert probably wins this one. The impression I get is that he's a better route runner than Carter, and with some polish will probably be better against savvy nickel backs in time.

The #4 spot then goes to Carter, Proehl, Hankton, and the street free agents. I think there's a good chance Proehl does retire, and I think Carter might win it if the team can find a ST replacement for Hankton (which shouldn't be that hard, really).

    Just my :twocents:.

Has anybody heard if he passed his physical or not?

I know it's a dumb question, but with our luck he has some hidden problem. :1peekdoor

I don't think it's a slam dunk. He still has to win the job away, and Colbert is a year ahead in this offense.

In any event, I don't see it being a solid #1, a solid #2, etc. I think we'll see more of a reciever-by-committee scanerio this year.

Gardner should fit in nicely as the bigger possession guy. I see us playing a fair number of three receiver sets now. Line those three up with Freddie Jones and we have some good targets for Jake to work with.
