    May not have been a good idea to talk to Clayton and tell him how much we liked Brown. OTOH, everyone said he was rising, so the Saints may have concluded that we liked him whether we said it or not.

    Yep, that's about what I said, too.

    I can definitely see the logic, though -- get some help to try to slow down Peppers and screw a division rival at the same time.

    excuse the language from the pit :banginghe it worked out for the best, ironically they say they would've taken Davis anyway. I imagine that, to a degree, the decision of whether to keep Wharton at LT wasn't going to be made until after that pick, though.

    Don't sweat it -- like I said, that's almost what I said, and definitely what I thought.

    Even so, I don't know that I would've been disappointed had it been the other way around. Taking Davis feels very much to me like taking Gamble last year -- great upside if he works out. Different reasons, but still the uncertainty is not something I want in a first round pick.
