If Carter made the 53 man roster, that would have been his role. There was no way he would have cracked the top 4 WRs. I have no idea what Harris' 40 time is, but Carter had 4.3 speed ... perfect for return duties.

Ladis and Gentlemen, let me introduce you to the Practice Squard Mick Vick. We'll sign him to a year contract to get two weeks of practice out of him.

He also has two knees that are the consistency of Twix bars. I’ll take a 4.6 guy who makes people miss occasionally AND IS DURABLE over a world class sprinter with wishbone-like appendages. Our staff loves to kill more than one bird with the same rock. A reserve WR/ backup DB/ special teamer with return skills stands a "better than sucky" chance of making the final roster . . . if he can survive Smitty in the film room.)

he's meet nothing more than camp fodder. He is behind Smith, Muhammed, Proehl, Colbert, Hankton, Young, Baker & Hayes. And in some aspects behind Carter who was Drafted by the team, but that won't really affect this year's roster. You need bodies for camp. That's all he is, and unless he is one of those once in a million outta nowhere miracles then he'll be sitting at home watching the Panthers on MNF on Sept. 13.

Yeah his chances are probably slim but his apparent versatility gives him a cracked door to stuff a foot in and the way our staff loves versatility and ST’ers all the guy has to do is show a few flashes in preseason and I bet he’s in. If Smart can do it so can this guy.)

    GO DEXTRON! :D

True, but I doubt the team wants Smitty doing PRs forever. Every since we lost Bates, we have not had a serious threat at KR (save when Smith did it). I'm not seriously thinking that Harris might slip into the WR corps, BUT the guy obviously has a knack for returning the ball. If Hankton can make the team every year as a STs guy, then other players can too. We kept Baker around last season (though he never was activated to the 45 man roster) because he was a decent WR and an even better KR.

Baker can return kicks/punts, better than SMart can IMO. But he languished on the inactive list and never dressed. Dyson could, and saw only a tiny bit of time.

Gamble will probably be a main returner. Smart may be the other guy. Carter really can't return kicks/punts, or hasn't anyway.

Yeah, Kinda surpised they didn't sign Carlos Wright instead seeing as they worked both out, Wright could have competed with Smart for an actual spot at RB/KR as well as given some depth at WR. He's multi-versatile.
