Yeah I'm not bullish about this signing, but I guess we had to do something. It's hard to imagine a worse option than Colin Jones.

It's hard to believe that the team had only three cornerbacks.

Technically, four I think. Bene, Peanut, Norman, Teddy Williams.

    I looked the other day.

Mainly a special teams guy. He's made some tackles on kick returns and punt returns.

He's pretty famous. Though I can accept the Finnegan signing a little more when our next man up died in 2002

Hopefully, any negative Finnegan brings or causes will far makeup for the liability Jones has.

I like Jones, like many here, and think he's good for some things. Being a nickel starter is not one of them. We are fixing to play 5 games where nickel coverage is very important. Further down the road, the playoffs as well.
Teams are going to exploit our weakest link, and Jones at nickel is it on defense. It is definitely a severe, glaring weakness on an otherwise sound squad. Everyone knows it.

It's not like vet DBs are hanging around on couches wanting to play, or are in shape and ready, who are worth a shit. Plus, the trade deadlines are over. So I do give the staff credit for making a move to shore up a weakness. Sounds like they concertedly went through their options and made a good decision. Although I do wonder why they didn't address this more before Sept. If Williams ("CB") couldn't handle the nickle job over Jones, Boston or Marlowe (all safeties), they should've had somebody else on the roster instead. It's not as if Williams is a great returner or some other shit. In fact his best attribute is a gunner, where he's drawn 2 penalties for going OB this year at inopportune moments. I haven't notice him except the flags and just a coupla decent coverage tackles. This season he's averaged 0.8 tackles per game (no more than 1 in any game) and has 1 PD (Tampa game).

I don't think any one dude is gonna be a cancer at this point. If so, he'll be gone quickly- of that, I'm sure.

The good thing is, our coaches and looker room are running smooth right now. Add that to the fact we are a complete contender, and the likes of Finnegan will prolly bust ass to help get a ring in the end. It's all they've wanted and now, the unlikely chance is an opportunity, hopefully, not squandered.

I did say "technically", as in he is listed on the roster as a CB. I thought that meant he played the position, although he has only been doing ST as far as I have noticed.

I need to watch the game again, and will later in the week as always.

But did anybody notice CJ's production last game?
