Fowler knows less about this team than the average poster on this board.

Bears | Cooling down on signing Manning Jr. to an offer sheet
    Thu, 20 Apr 2006 17:59:03 -0700

ESPN.com's John Clayton reports the Chicago Bears seemed to have cooled on the idea of signing restricted free agent CB Ricky Manning Jr. (Panthers) to an offer sheet. The biggest reason seems to be the depth available at cornerback in the NFL Draft. Also, Manning probably would only be a third corner on the Bears, so the Panthers would probably match any contract that wasn't for starters' money.

Clayton is an idiot too. Won't we loose him next year anyway? I would think the team would let him go for a 3rd no matter what the Bears offer.

Well as far as the Diggs signing goes, I like it. Well assuming the conract is reasonable. One of those guys that was extremely talented, looking for something to prove after being hurt. He's a good cheap gamble I'm betting. He has the potential to be a solid starter, but I'm betting he was signed cheap enough that he can easily be cut in camp if he doesn't work out.

    That's more speculation than reporting.

I'm sure we'll have more than six, so Vinny may still have an outside shot. But yes, I like these guys. Probably the most versatile LB group of the Fox era.
