The Eagles second string is better than our third string, AND???? It was a stalemate up until, the guys who won't be here in a week, screwed the pooch. Really, the coaching staff should have pulled Moore, just so his supporting cast of soon-to-be roster casulaties wouldn't screw up his confidence. The Eagles staff and players wanted the win more than our third string. Had our first string got 24 points ran up on them, yeah, I'd be pissed, but that's not the case. Oh well, our perfect preseason record it shot....

    Agreed.

Given that our starting CBs were out, I thought the secondary was decent. The D-line minus Peppers was a little disappointing. The D didn't stop the Eagles as much as Eagles penalties did.

The Eagles handled the blitz much better than the Panthers, but they've probably seen a load of it in practice from their own defense, lol.

I'm most disppointed in our lack of a run game last night. I hoped for more with the vamped up O-line. I expected to not see as much from our passing game given the receivers that were out. But the run...

    King looked good several times.

Colclough did good considering he's not a starter - good experience for him.

Welcome to the NFL, Jonathan Stewart. Ouch.

It could be my imagination, but I seem to remember an article this time last year where Andy Reid was justifying game planning in pre-season games. I've no idea if that happened this year, though I get an increasing sense that Reid detests the Panthers, and even in the preseason wants to hit us hard.

I agree with everything you said. The running game struggled, but Philly's defense is one of the better ones in the league. That said, D.W. didn't muster much with the first unit O-line so, it's kind of hard to judge Stewart based on the second string and his first NFL start on a sloppy field. I'll give him a pass on that one.

Yeah, the D-line disappeared a bit, but I think that was more of us playing our genaric, preseason game plan. Last week's pressure, while great, was more of Indy's blocking breakdown than anything spectacular that our staff "drew up".

I'm not overly happy about the DBs play even though it was largely our second string starting. They played off too much and in Philly's WCO, they will pick you apart and did so before we buckled down close to the red zone. We should have played bump coverage and let McNabb test us deep. While it was good PT for Colclough, I'm not sure he will hold up in bump/man coverage.

Nah, he's like that against everyone. The Eagles have the most physical training camp and do the most preparation for preseason games because Reid believes that best prepares his team for the regular season. That's why Philadelphia was a good test for our progress, and it did show that we have a long way to go.

You might be right, but we don't run that anyway. We're a Cover 3 defense.
