It'll be kind of weird at first, I think.

We'll look down at the sidelines and not see John Fox, nor even the ghost of John Fox. What we'll see instead is this dude with shoulders as wide as a Honda Fit, scowling at things happening on the field and not chewing gum.

We'll look up at the coach's box high up in the stadium at a couple of fresh-faced coordinators pouring over a stack of plans and plays, their minds racing furiously for the right combination of forces to execute something unexpected.

We don't know what Rivera, Chudzinski and McDermott will do. Maybe they won't either until the bullets start flying. It's kinda exciting when you think about it. It'll be weird at first.

What do you think will happen on third and eight?

Will the defense be scary with blitzes, or smart and crafty with disguised coverages?

Is there someone competent drawing up plays for the Special Teams?

Wonder if the second half will look different than the first half?

Wonder if we'll see four receiver sets?

Wonder if losing will be unacceptable?

Wonder what Rivera's approach will be to risk? Aggressive? Foolhardy? Conservative?

Will the Panthers be fun to watch?

Richardson need a new suite... instead of the endzone, he should get one on the 50 so he can see what the hell is going on

Just by watching the interviews of Chud and McDermott, this is what I gathered:

Chud plans on having the TE be part of the passing offense and opening things up for the WRS. He had a play on the board, albeit very basic, but with three WRs and a TE running a route, with the RB back to block and then releasing upfield for a check down. He said they'd be an attacking offense ... not "ball control". Fox always said they'd "run the ball and stop the run". I haven't heard that yet from this staff.

McDermott indicated that they intend on confusing offenses and opposing offensive coaches, and would be an attacking-style of defense.

One thing is for certain, in the past the whole world has known the Panthers will run a draw play on 3rd and 9.

Even though it will not surprise anyone because folks are expecting change, I'm thinking Rivera HAS GOT TO KNOW his first 3rd and long has got to be pass...

we don't better play calling on 3rd & 9... we need better play calling to avoid the 3rd & 9's

We will have to be patient, but the D will be good right off the bat. The offense will need time.

Meat, not trying to beat dead whores, but I think the QB position will be better. If it is Clausen, he will be much improved in this O.

(yes, the ever so clever play on words was intentional. If you use it in the future, you have to give me a footnote).

Lots more 3WR running plays, tons of formations, motion, shifting, more option routes, power runs from zone. Chud was criticized by some CLE fans for throwing too much.

That leads me to another question... is there ANY chance that under a new offense, Jimmy Claussen will play better? I'm in no means saying he's even "good", but could part of his problem last year, been the play calling and schemes?

His biggest problem was he became chicken shit if the line started to bend and would throw bad passes because of that, BUT I'm wondering if a few changes would help him at least look like he knew what in the hell he was doing.
