Essentially, the team is confident in Delhomme as a starter, they think Weinke is okay as long as he's just a backup, and they believe the roster has too many other more urgent needs to worry about making changes at quarterback.

If he can't relieve the starter when asked and give the team a chance to win how the hell can they see him as a solid backup?

God I hope the staff isn't so dumb as to think that just becuase Weinke sucks that it changes what they might have thought of Delhomme. Either they are happy with him or not and it shouldn't depend on how bad Weinke performs.

Unless they actually thought Weinke was the long term solution and they are even dumber.

this isn't really much more valuable than the Bradshaw thing. It may actually contain insight from the team, where the other one didn't, but in the end, the decisions this team makes will have little bearing on what they said in December about it.

FWIMFW, they have no defining ties to Basanez, so getting a quarterback with more promise is far from out of the question.

It sounds like their inside source was just watching the freakin game. Here, I've got an inside source too.

"After a year where Deangelo Williams showed the burst and talent that could turn him into an elite running back inside sources have said that he will compete with Foster for the starting RB position next year."

When asked for commet John Fox said, "It is what it is. We evaluate talent every day on this team and next year will be no different."

My sources from inside the Panthers organization say that the coaches are very happy with rookie Richard Marshall and will give him every chance to compete with starters Ken Lucas and Chris Gamble for a starting spot next season.

My sources have told me that we've seen Fox stick with "his guys" enough times to conclude that he won't make a change until the situation is an absolute disaster, and that we've seen enough bad decisions from Hurney recently that we'll end up paying out the ass for a mediocre guy when that disaster is finally upon us.

They should be. Marshall is one of the best picks they've made in awhile. He may not always make the tackle, but unlike Gamble and Lucas, he sticks his nose in there and tries to make it. Lucas, and especially Gamble, tackle like Deion Sanders.

I think they will stick with Jake next year as the starter and probably with Weinkie as the backup. Not because of anything that has happened the last two weeks though.

PFW usually gets their stuff from local writers. Scott Fowler used to be their Panthers source. He may still be. Their info when I've read them has generally been pretty good.

The issue with this one may not be the source as much as the timing. The online version of "WWHI" is about a week behind the print version, so this likely would have been written before the Steelers game.
