Looks llike the Winkster will get some help this year aftefr all !
A lot of reasons could account his Hennings losing records as a coach. rong man, wrong place, lack of "star" players and owner attitude, poor OC & DC (like Panthers)
I am a lot happier to see Henning selected than Pope. At least THIS guy has a trrack record. Won't take long for us to see what he really can do. I'll bet we see MORE running (remember John Riggins ??)

This hire makes me feel good too. ESPN says he'll be OC and QB coach. Does that just leave the RB Coach spot to fill?

Nope. The RBs coach is Skipper, former Giant RB coach and XFL HC.
I assume Breaux stays too, since he worked with Henning with the Skins, and was held in tremendously high regard by Gibbs.
It then, I guess, comes down to third-tier assistants...whether to keep Reynolds as defensive assistant, and what to pick up as an OA.

I have read almost nothing out there about Henning...
What type of offense does he run? Does he emphasize the running game? Great to see a guy with a lot of experience, and I must agree that the coaching staff assembled so far is VERY solid. We could have done a lot worse!

I must say, I'm pumped. I don't have quite the same excitement as I had when we signed Siefert or if we would have signed Spurrier, but I think this is overall a safer and smarter move. I feel like we've got a quality work-horse staff, that will hopefully install that mentality on out players. Bring on the draft. Bring on free-agency. Bring on 8 and 8 and a solid foundation!

Henning is one of the best OCs in the game. He coached the Redskins to two superbowl wins under Joe Gibbs. While the guys HC numbers are not that good, he rocks as an OC! He got Testaverde to the pro bowl. The Jets went 9-7 in 2000, this was Hennings last coaching job. He took last year off. A 9-7 season got the Bucs to the play-offs this year! Henning coached Joe Theismann, Bob Griese, Doug Williams and Vinny Testaverde. Sounds pretty good to me.

I LIKE this statement and think its ON THE MONEY bravo Big Mark.
The coaches that we have in place are "or seem to be" just that and we need strong work ethics much more than we need name appeal right now. I think the group that is coming in brings passion for the game of football and for the rebuilding of the panthers. Put that together in a mixing bowl and what you have is a recipe for long term success.
