Our defense is great, our offense has a way to go. Jake floated passes early, but rebounded to look OK. Glad to see we actually have some plays that include screens. They killed us with those as the CBs gave a healthy cushion

    Stuff the Panthers STILL need:

1). Marshall to be a punt returner - Hill should not be the guy. WHY do we have to add one more special teams only guy to the active roster?
2). More time for the O-line to gel - Our starters have the talent and the coaching, they just need more game-time experience together IMO (i hope)
3). A viable backup Guard/Center - We got nothing’ if someone gets dinged
    4). A viable backup tackle - ditto

Guess our staff is leaning heavily towards just going with Foster, Williams, Goings, Robertson and Hoover . . . They didn’t play any other backs and I think that (along with how little the others have played this preseason) is telling. My guess is that Fox & Co are probably confident that once our O-line gets a little more cohesive Foster and Goings are tough enough to get the short yards
Looking back over some of the DVD of this game our corners did leave some big cushions. Miami was using a shit load of no huddle and I'd be surprised if our D had prepared for any of that this week. I'm sure all that no huddle will actually serve as a good primer for coming practices and regular season. They ate us up on the quick little check down stuff.

Wow, this board was dead tonight. My brother and I were at the game, so I'll try to make a few comments before my five hour beauty sleep.

Not sure what you're talking about, Rake, because Hill had his best game. Being that he's virtually the only player who has been practicing as the PR, he has a good chance of sticking. Marshall wouldn't be any "safer", either.

Seward was a beast. He will make the team. Seemed like he took most of the snaps at MLb, as I did not see Ciurciu until the 4th quarter.

Needless to say, or run defense has been awesome. Kemo and Jenks were controlling the LOS. D Lewis has been suprisingly good against the run, using his quickness to shoot by the G and get to the RB. We've shut down three very good backs this preseason.

Short yardage running is poor. I wish we used more quick-hitting dive plays in these situations, rather than the slow developing leads and counters. We're making things way to easy for opposing defenses.

It's nice to have a legit KR. Special teams, as a whole, were outstanding. Biddle made a great play as a gunner. Hell, if he's useful is that area, we should definitely consider keeping him instead of Hankton. We all know he's more explosive, and can do more as a wideout.

*for anybody who was upper-level, did you happen to see the loud, black gentleman who was cheering for the Dolphins in section 553? I had to sit right next to that guy. I appreciate his team spirit, but damn, you don't have to celebrate every three yard gain as if it's your first-born child.

You hate to lose anybody, but we have contingency for LB. If Diggs is gone for an extended period of time, I can deal with that. As talented a 3-deep as anywhere but DT/maybe DE. Granted, Diggs was the best of the 3 we had, at what we needed, which was a guy to be in there for two downs.

Gamble looked to be playing a lot looser zone than normal. You'd hope we'd be playing more C3 with man technique with him in the regular seaon as normal.

I'm concerned about the consistency, but 4/carry against these guys with the starting unit is good. And that's with Foster making a few cut mistakes that we really could've broken runs on.

Yeah. This looked like the game after Detroit, almost. Last year. When it looked like we settled him down, took his balls from him, and he lacked efficiency and playmaking. There's always a happy medium, and he's usually at it. I'm not bothered by it, but he was kinda crappy. So was Weinke.

both of them pissed Jake off. Not that he didn't throw other high/outside balls, but you could tell he was getting it to where only KC was going to be able to get it. Too barrel-drop for my tastes, but that's how they drill them.

He's much more electric. Colbert has shown some inconsistent hands still, and a little more timidness at times. Either will do fine midseason but Carter has a fluidity that makes him look so natural right now.

Haven't read through all the comments but our across the middle coverage looked like it sucked out loud. A lot of blown coverages.

Jake seemed like he was having touch problems on the long ball and over shooting his WR.

    DW looks very promising.

Forgot Davis. He gave up a 1st down, but otherwise looked very good. The woo hit, and some other very solid tackles, giving up little yardage.

Seward looks as good as or better than Morgan.

Its not Morgans fault, really. But he needs to retire. Ruining your brain is not like ruining your knee. Roger Staubach retired in his prime because of concussions. Steve Young was forced to retire because no one would let him kill himself. Some people are just vulnerable to them.
