Even with Howard? Who else did we lose. It seems we are one up with Howard.

Wesley was also good depth/ST gunner, but I don't think it makes it a huge need. I do think it makes it a depth issue, and CB is one spot where we can gain a returner. Considering that the league's leading WR, and a starting CB, are our punt returners, and we were ass at kick returning this last year, that's a need. Potentially enough to drop a 3rd on a 4th CB to add the returner and take the need away from a RB slot.

the addition of another 3rd rounder gives us some options including moving up, though not as high as some might think, or standing pat and grabbing another guy at a position of need. If the value chart is to be believed, a combo of our 1st and one of the 3rds gets us up to around 21 and a combo of both 3rds can get us up to the 66th overall at the end of the 2nd. With the way things are looking, trading down for more picks may be the best option. I can't see any one ahead of us in the 1st that we'd be able to pull the trigger with unless we're willing to give up more than a 1 and a 3.

we could use that extra pick to move up in the 2nd round maybE

Bears just had a corner retire didn't they? Manning would actually be a good fit for that defense IMO...but I hate to see him go

what's up with Seidman? anybody want him?

The few times I really watched Manning last year in coverage, he really seemed to be struggling. I think without being able to drape himself over his assigned reciever he is average or worse.

I was a bit dissapointed, as well. You don't ever expect great coverage from your nickle, but there were occasions where RMJ looked out of position. So I don't think this will be a big loss at all, and having Howard makes it easier to let him walk.

    no

I'm surprised no one's thought of this, but if Chicago gives us their 3rd for Manning, we'd have the 88th pick, right before our own 3rd rounder. I imagine we'd try to trade up or down, but the thought of having to not choose between two prospects is intriguing.
