scheme? zone. In our type zone you're going to see that.

right now, though, we're playing a lot of man and blitzing, though. We've missed some assignments. No idea why we're bringing the house so much.

Johnson has looked solid. Mcclover could stop jumping offsides any day now.

Jarrett has done well in the seams.

Our defense looked pretty strong considering they had 5 starters out.

    1st half observations FWIW

    Peppers: Welcome Back
1st unit O-Line: Opened huge holes
Moore: Looked steady, Missed a screen to Toefield
2nd Unit D: could not get off the field on 3rd down. Tighten that up please
Liked the KO into the endzone because we still can't kick cover for shit

    Overall quite happy

Collin, what are your thoughts on how Connor and L. Johnson have played so far?

the bit I've gone back and concentrated on it, Otah looks solid. I saw him against light guys and they didn't blow by him. He gets a wide wingspan together quickly, but doesn't get his feet too wide. I've seen him in college have problems there, where he'll get outside and then end up getting out of position inside. A guy that big should never have problems inside, so it looks like he's staying under himself better.

The three vet guards, all in all, look good. We have realistic depth here. Hangartner is a good backup, so inside we have the depth we need. I guess Bridges counts as tackle depth, though Omiyale and Riley are certainly green.

Williams does look like the back he finished the year off as last year, and a little more.

The defense isn't saying "hit squad" coming out of the huddle anymore, but the first team did still look like the aware, fast, hungry defense of years ago. Both Seward and Connor looked good in relief.

Anderson still doesn't look as good for a 3rd round pick as you'd want. Nobody around him looks remarkable either, except for Connor who we'll see through the 3rd I'll guess.

    Toefield looking better against scrubs.

Birmingham showing some, too. That bucksweep there, Bridges pulling as a tackle, the notable part of that play was Jarrett in motion, going up and attacking the LB, 59, and staying on him. That's a good sign.

Fleming not helping himself on that drive.

edit: yeah, I was watching Jarrett on that same play. And Toefield would be fine behind a good line, for what we were looking for out of him.
