I think you're right about Moose. The Panthers claimed they offered a deal comparable to what he got in Chi-town, in the ball park, theyy didnt low ball him like i thought they would.

If they do make a trade, i would be really surprised if the trade wasnt contingent on Gardner agreeing to a new contract first. If that is the case, i have no idea what the chances are it happens. Gardner could easily be convinced by his agent to balk at a contract renegotiation and open himself to the highest bidder once he gets released. I will be mad if they trade him and dont redo his deal before hand.

Im just guessing here, but the Redkins might be interested in a safety, since we have quite a few now, especially at FS...with Minter, Bashir, Branch, McCree, and Emmanuel all being capable of playing FS. The Redskins may want to hedge against Sean Taylors legal situation. I dont know how possible it is, just a thought really.

Agreed on the FS thing, good call, potentially.

And yeah, you'd figure there'd be a contract extension being mentioned - there's a wildcard in that, though. They could want to pay Gardner more than he's worth (and $2 mil is more than he's worth till he starts producing) on the contingency that they get him for this year without having to put guaranteed money on the table. The $2 mil? It's gone after this year, of course. Anything extended, would come with a fair bonus, which of course spreads. It'd be risky to put that much into Gardner monetarily at first, but would pay dividends if he didn't perform.

I was lurking over at the ExtremeSkins.com message board to see what they were saying about Gardner and they ain't saying much. Except wondering what they could get for Gardner and Barrow. The consensus, a sandwich and a bag of chips.

Here's a link to the message board and the thread: http://www.extremeskins.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=106505

They have sure had enough problems trying to find some good receivers in DC. Coles never really worked out like they hoped. Michael Westbrook was a bust. Now Gardner is a bust...

As a Redskins fan I can tell you Gardner stinks. You do not want him and he'll probably be cut soon.
