That's a quality move by Morgan. Barnes is well versed in the Fangio system while also being a missle on special teams.

We’ll take McLaurin and Parsons, and you can have a soccer team (whatever that is), an owner, a community that loathes you, and several superfluous players and picks.

Oh, and a free bowl of soup.

I believe Edholm is seeing a bunch of defensive ghosts on the Panthers and has no clue about the Panthers' D.

"But the other side of the ball is a huge question mark. Edholm concluded, "I also worry that Carolina didn’t quite do enough defensively this offseason to challenge in the NFC South. The Panthers were awful in nearly every major defensive category last season, although it at least appears that they’ll get a better push and rush up front after being dominated in the trenches a year ago."
That doesn't mean they're going to be good, though. Here's where the rest of the South Ranked:

    • New Orleans Saints - 31st
    • Panthers - 28th
    • Atlanta Falcons - 21st
    • Tampa Bay Buccaneers - 7th
It's Tampa's division for the time being, and the Panthers evidently have a long way to go before they get to that level."

Last year our most common front five (including the OLBs) was D.J. Wonnum, LaBryan Ray, Shy Tuttle, A'Shawn Robinson, and Jadaveon Clowney. This year it's going to be Wonnum, Derrick Brown, Bobby Brown III, Turk Wharton, and Pat Jones II. That's a MASSIVE upgrade almost across the board, with the only questions being if Wharton beats out Robinson and if Jones can beat Clowney's 5.5 sacks and 46 tackles. In Minnesota, he got 7 sacks and 39 tackles, so I think he might.

Wharton and Robinson are a wash to me. Wharton is better pass rusher, but Robinson has previously graded out as better against the run. Both need some talent to take full attention off of them to flourish, but they'll get that this year.

Our secondary looks better to me on paper, as Moehrig is a clear upgrade over Woods and Richardson played better than Fuller last year. We also have Ransom but he probably needs a little development.

I just don't see what more Morgan could have really done to shore up the defense. It's not going to be a top ten unit, but it should be markedly improved from 2024.

Also, Tampa Bay is too high, and the Saints are probably going to be worse than the Browns.

I mentioned the other day that our WR room is a bit full and looks like Moore is odd man out.

Can we trade for ILB help? Maybe a team with a full LB room like our WR room

I'm sure Savio will stop by and start a game thread, but who/what would you like to see in tomorrow's contest? More running? More passing? See XL without hands being thrown? Rookies wreaking some havoc on the D? FAs showing some flashes? See some Jimmy Horn chunk plays? Maybe all you want to see is no one gets injured? Maybe all you care about is seeing the depth personnel get plenty of reps?

Houston has a good Defense and defense minded coach. Love to see balanced attack. Run the ball and make some nice pass completions.

I doubt we do a lot of blitzing, so stopping the run and some pressure up the middle on Stroud
