FWIW I REALLY don't want him brought in. I think its too much of a gamble, but I've reached the point I think its the direction they're gonna go.

At the risk of drawing magnus' ire, I'm already to the point that I'm questioning how much I'm still a fan of this team. It's not the record that killed me, and it's not as if I'm finding myself pulling for anyone else, it's just that the way the team has been run over the last several years has killed my enthusiasm for the Panthers. I still love the NFL, just not a particular team.

same here . . . at first I was really trying to give the BOTD to Richardson and even Fox & Co for a good long while. I have been a fan of JR trying to take the high road and seek out higher character players (or more accurately, trying to avoid the opposite). Lately i've been struggling with my own flawed character of just wanting my team to win and if it takes a few thug bastards so fuckin what? I just wonder if JR has let his standards drop to where he is more likely to bring in a higher % of shadier players to get W's, and as some of you suggest "sell tickets". I would believe my own character would drop (and it has) before I would believe a guy like Richardson would stoop to a Jerry Jones-like level. Look, I don't happen to think JR is a brilliant owner but he's not a bad one and to his credit he has tried to keep the operation G-rated and maintain some class. That was the point of my previous post. I don't see him bringing in "my dad's my pimp, and I steal laptops" Cammy, or "gonna break NFL records in fines" Nick Dirty with that crucial #1 overall.

people who lose interest, that happens. The angry, pouting, ultimatum fans are the ones that suck, especially when I'm frustrated at the same things they are.

    Does suck to hear, though.

I doubt what they're doing has a lot of bearing on Tom's article, nor what he's saying being representative of their wants. I'm sure they want Newton to be what they wish he was, instead of what they see.

It's definitely a decision of whether it's Newton, or the other players. I just don't know that he's winning that race.

As far as talking to him, or anyone else, I'll put Adalius Thomas in as an example. They met with Thomas for two hours, I believe at combine (which is precious time for face time with prospects). Rumors had him going to our 2nd that year (2000), all over the place. We passed on him plenty of times, with him going to the Ravens in the 6th. Thomas probably could've been used here, though his best work was in the 3-4 and even then he didn't start at OLB until 2004.

Point is, a lot of talking means a lot of talking. Doesn't mean they're gushing over him after.

not giving up hope yet. The coaching staff shaked out like I wanted it to, and I wont judge them until the draft is done. Hurney has to redeem himself bigtime, though. Hope it God Newton is a smokescreen...
