Did you really think we gave Moose last year's deal with the intention of him being a Panther in '05? We were never going to pay him that 10 million dollars. If anything, we should blame the organization for bringing him back after a slightly above average year in '03.

I meant for the future and for salary cap implications, not his performance in '04. I never said anything about 2004. I said he had a slightly above average year in '03, and in retrospect, it would have been wise to cut him loose then.

I think it was smart move at time not to cut him loose in 03.Let say you Cut him loose. Then who start for you at WR in 03Smith was a very good PR and KR but he was not a good WR.

After '03, not before '03. I should have specified that a little better, even though anyone with common since could probably understand what I meant.

If you didn't have Moose last year, what kind of offense would we have had?

I'd say the problem is that the Panthers offered him a deal that didn't spread out the hit they would have to take to keep him. Basically all they did was delay the whole process for a year, which turned out to be good for us last season, but now has us in the exact same place with him.

He was brilliant last year. Our offense would have been terrible without him. Delaying the process, like you said, is what I was refering to. If we are going to assign blame if Moose goes, which we shouldn't, we should do it for the decision last off season.

Yeah. They didn't really want their team captain back, they just forgot to cut him. [IMG]
Delaying the process means dealing with it at another time, not "well we'll cut him then instead of now."
