doesn't matter where that 1st round pick is. You really shouldn't give up future firsts.

Sorry, missed the other thread that evaluated points. Not arguing, just discussing because I find it interesting. I just have to disagree that if say Stewart is a Pro Bowler and say Otah is just a good offensive lineman then the Franchise is in for a rough patch. I just think that's a bit over-stated that's all. I don't disagree it was a steep price, I just think some are going a bit to far off the doom and gloom cliff that's all.

I'll have to see what RB's are around when we pick in the third, but I think Otah/DE/RB would have been a better way to go.
Again, I do like J-Stew...just not at #13.

I said that if neither player is Pro Bowl caliber then the franchise is in for a rough patch. I don't know if you've noticed, but this team is getting somewhat old pretty much everywhere except linebacker. The window for this team to be a playoff contender is closing, at which point we'll need to rebuild. Without a first round pick in '09, that's going to become even tougher.

Exactly, and if we were a playoff team last year and very close to competing for a superbowl, and this was like the last piece we needed, then I could see giving up that steep of a price.

Don't forget we signed Tyler Brayton a former 1st round DE and our 3rd round pick from last year Charles Johnson at DE. I am more concerned about DT with Kemo/Lewis then DE. I would have looked DT before DE.

Brayton has proved to be little more than a turd thus far and Johnson hasn't done anything to make me think he's goin to produce more than Rucker. Peppers needs to blow the fuck up in '08...and yes, DT is a concern as well.

Fact is, we suck at DE right now. SUCK. Fact is, we suck at DT right now, too. And thin as a razor.

Now were left with the third round, to reach and fill holes with bodies. And pay Walker what he was asking if Scott and COleman tell us to get fucked.

we can and will stop the run. We were next to last in pass rush last year, I don't know why people forget that.
