Agreed. This squad will be lucky to win 2-3

I'm not looking at it from a "matchups" perspective. I am basing it on historical fact. We always pull out a few bullshit wins against good teams, even when we're depleted. Maybe 6-7 is generous, but fuck, it's not like other teams are kicking our balls in. We're step for step in terms of yardage.

As we've said over and over, it's a matter of VETERANS being retards. Once they stop being retards and catch interceptions, protect the football, tackle at the first level, pick up blitzes, block better in man situations and punt better (yes)--we will have more success. Now, does that translate to YAY! PLAYOFFS! Fuck no.

But this team is better than the 2008 Lions, and better than the 2001 Panthers. Almost by a mile.

The season is 19% complete, so my tendency has always been to just let the shit play out and we'll see what happens. Ask yourself--do you believe this 0-3 start has been any uglier than last year's? And does it matter? No, because you are what you are at that moment.

Near mid-season in 2009, Fisher pulled Collins for VY in Tennessee, and they proceeded to allow 50+ to New England in a blizzard. By year's end, they were pushing for a playoff spot. This time last year, fans were pissing and moaning about how shitty Tennessee was. When it was all over, they were one of the "hot, up and coming teams" for 2010. It's a fickle league with fickle fans.

Again, our team, in crucial positions, lacks experience (RT, QB, WR, RG, DL, LB). So, naturally, when you lack a Tom Brady to make up for the shittiness that lurks around you, winning games is not easy. New England's defense, without question, is one of the worst in the NFL, and actually worse than Carolina's. It's just they have experience on offense to overcome that. Much like Green Bay, and Philly, who are two of the four youngest teams in the NFL.

Bottom line: when you're young, your veterans are responsible for carrying the load for a few weeks until the kids get a grasp on things. These veterans just haven't done their job, and that's probably the biggest disappointment from my end. The rooks, for the most part, look pretty good, when they play. Hell, even McClain has been balling on punt coverages.

i'm not going to belittle your opinion on this because partly i agree with it. they are better than that lions team and that panthers team. the thing is though, that doesn't necessarily equate to wins, and this edition of the panthers has such myriad flaws that they are incapable of beating opponents. i fully expect to see improvement at various spots on the field. it's silliness to think they can't or won't get better. but it is just as short-sighted to think that if so-and-so blocks better, and what's-his-name tackles better then we pull off a semi-respectable season in regards to w-l. there are a couple or so games on that schedule that we have a real chance at winning. and while there are always injuries and crazy bounces, i don't like our odds on taking it to the saints, falcons, ravens, and steelers. that's 6 games right there. so maybe we can wrangle wins out of the 7 remaining games.

To be honest, I envisioned (in July) Moore playing safe, turnover-free football, a continuum of the running game from Q4 of 2009, faster defensive play, and a pretty good shot to win 8-10 games.

Well, we came out flat as shit, and haven't rebounded, so you readjust your approach as a fan. Mine is similar: improvement and progress. The fact that a couple bonehead plays negated yesterday would have won us a game and put us one game back in the division would have been nice, but we're apparently just not ready to be that good yet.

I want to see the rookies and 2nd year starters shine (as Godfrey and Goodson have already shown flashes), but I also want to see us establish an identity. If it's going to be more of a New England model of offense, per Davidson's background, then spread these defenses the fuck out, get their LB's off the field, and attack.

But just have a plan, work the plan, and improve.

Then again, establishing an identity with a coach who won't be here next year might just be a waste of fucking time.

You mean the same Ram team that just put up 30 against the Redskins?

Look, I'm not saying we will go o-for. I wouldn't be suprised if we did win 6 or 7. But right now we can't say anything about anyone else, putting up one touchdown a game. We are looking up at the Rams.

It all depends on our young players growing, and our vets staying healthy. IF Otah comes back, big boost. Might be a double boost as we may also improve at RG along with RT.

I don't feel the D is as bad as they've played. Catch a couple of balls, get the assignments right, we're not 0-3, and possibly 2-1, as ugly as it's been.

Things go right we could be one of those teams no one wants to play the second half of the year (I have felt that all along really). Which, I'd sure like to not be that but it's better than the alternative.

Bad teams usually win their surprise games against division foes. Look at almost any 1 or 2 win team. There's a win against a division foe (2001 Panthers are an exception, since their win was against Minn)
