    another example of why its risky to take guys who:

    -come from powerhouse programs like FSU,
    -redshirt year one,
    -play sparingly at backup for years two and three because they are behind a bunch of really talented upperclassmen
    -then - out of no where - blow up their junior year after a mass exodus of talent, and parlay that into a 1st round pick. (especially when that guy is playing next to another guy or group of guys who are all major NFL prospects themselves)

    It doesnt happen like that for many positions, but it does for DTackles and DEnds.

    I was not suggesting we sign him now since he is in his 40s. A guy like that who maybe near the end of his career but has enough left to give us a solid year is all we need, a guy like Washington was a few years ago.

    I think you might be overrating Washington's abilities, a few years ago (06) he keyed a browns defense that was 4th worst in rushing yards allowed, in 2007 they made a jump to 6th worst.
