I think the deadline to go from 80 to 75 is 9/01.

The Texans are "actively shopping" DT Travis Johnson, per former NFL scout Daniel Jeremiah on twitter.

    Thoughts?

1st round bust, somewhat of an asshole, seems to always have some nagging injury, I thought he was supposed to be more a pass rush tackle than a true nose guy.

He turned out to be one of those 3-technique tackles who got fat and lazy, so they just switched him over. The only highlight he ever generated was taunting unconscious Trent Green. Doesn't seem like the kind of guy we would be interested in.

not to defend him by any means but there's a lot different expectations over a former #1 pick when he's your former pick.

He's been on the PUP list (hernia) FWIW.

Had a decent 2007. Good tackles, PDs. He's got two career sacks, not good enough for what people thought he was. But does he have experience, talent? yeah. Does he have a low-ish salary? Oddly enough.
His work ethic, his character I don't know. That would be the deal breaker.

A few years ago any team who was in our position would just sign Ted Washington to a one year deal. I guess he finally got too old. Too bad there is not a guy like that floating around now that we could snag. I am good with a hired gun on a one year deal. It is a lot better than getting run on up the middle all year while Hayden gets pancaked.

That was a bad idea a few years ago, in the end he was a guy you could just run around.

They seemed to have the same take we do on Colbert: loads of opportunities and he never panned out.

well fuck, he was drafted in 92 or 93. I'd call that old.
But yeah, there were some big journeymen available in July.
