I became pretty impressed with Pike watching the Gilyard highlight reel.

    1) I think we backed out of the run game in the preseason. We only had Williams healthy and didn't want to really risk injury to him in the preseason. We also needed to test our receivers and we relied more heavily on the pass game.

    2) I'm much more comfortable if Moore tanks with Clausen on the bench than I was with Delhomme and Moore. Clausen seems to be the QB of the future. If Moore struggles or gets hurt, I can live with rookie mistakes from a rookie.

Plus, our offense should look better than it is against Tampa Bay.

it's certainly atypical. Of course they had rumors about half of the top guys since 2005. Ryan hype was huge. Who knows if they were really willing to do it - I know I dismissed it. But looking at how Hurney became a 12-year old boy looking at his first vag once Clausen made it to 33 does make me wonder if we would've gone for a Ryan had he dropped outside of the top 8.

I think it all worked out great. I'm betting one of those three QB's is going to have a great career, hopefully here.
