Not an excuse, but i think the offense will find a rhythm when the actual personnel is in the game.

Williams was not in for long, stewart not at all. When those guys are in the whole game - together - that's a huge upgrade from what's been out there this year.

Additionally - Smitty. And not just smitty, but half the guys that were WR with the first team last night wont make the 53, much less the 45.

HAving the same 11-13 guys out there all 4 quarters will make a big big difference, imho.

it can't hurt. Also our O isn't much of a dumpoff O, so it won't look like a long drive type O in preseason unless we run the ball a lot (and we haven't). So compared to a WCO type QB we won't have the high percentages.

Certainly, with both backs, carries will go up a good bit. Playaction will matter. Hopefully, blitz pickups will be better. Efficiency should go up on 3rd down, given that it's not just "let's see who gets open, and throw to that guy", it'll be "let's work to find ways to get someone open". First and second downs will be easier with less man coverage.

    agree with each point.

it's preseason. not a time to be panicking. especially since this is basically the same offense that finished averaging about 25 points a game at the end of last season. we are minus moose and vincent from last year but it's hard to believe that we don't have enough talent to replace that production. the only thing i can see at the moment possibly being a big issue is if Moore suddenly becomes worse. could happen from the pressure of having to see clausen lurking behind him. seeing some things i don't like in him that i didn't see last year. i'm worried, but hopefully some of that goes away once he wins a couple of games this year. it would help if the media would lay off the clausen hype but i guess that's wishful thinking.

smitty makes a huge difference. despite constantly being doubled-teamed he was still far and away our leading receiver.

we're basically the same team that went 8-8 last year but with a much improved D, sans the interceptions, an easier schedule (at least on paper), and a much improved attitude overall.

Our running game has been more then good this preseason, all RB's combined averaging almost 5 yards per carry... still no TD's

Moore looked decent last week though... between the 20's... lots more work to do

clayton is a goofy lil' dude -

here are his initial QB rankings:

    http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/preview10/columns/story?columnist=clayton_john&id=5489176

    Delhomme is ranked 33

    Moore is 32

Favre should tumble down the list and week 1 will make that obvious enough

    Rodgers should be top 4

guess they are not specifically numbered there (on 2nd glance) but
Ryan, Schaub, Young, Smith, Henne, are all going to have better yrs than he is ranking them

I just think it's really interesting what the panthers have done at QB. It's not at all typical of the current regime. Two rookie projects behind a 4 game wonder (mini-wonder) from last year. :22_yikes:
I like the rooks they got, A LOT but what the panthers brain-trust has done is a huge surprise

Pike was considered a Heisman Trophy candidate before he broke his forearm mid October last year and Clausen hype was even higher . .. it's bizarre to see them #2 and #3 on the panthers depth chart now. No one would have guessed that we'd have one of those guys back then, much less both of what were probably the 2nd and 3rd rated NFL QB prospects at the time. I guess a QB butchering your season can have dramatic effects on your future roster.

So which couple of hyped NFL prospects will the Browns have on their roster next year? Locker and Keenum maybe?
