•The Panthers attempted to bolster their secondary by signing cornerback Charles Tillman. Tillman’s one-year contract is worth $1.75MM, which includes a $350,000 signing bonus, $150,000 roster bonus, and $15,625 in per gamer roster bonuses, according to Aaron Wilson of the Baltimore Sun (via Twitter). Wilson adds that the Tillman deal is expected to include incentives to increase the total value (via Twitter).

I wonder if that means "Active" Roster bonus

I bet Gettleman was pulling Tillman's hair while he signed that contract.

•Offensive tackle Byron Bell, who recently worked out for the Chiefs, is now receiving consideration from another AFC team, reports Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. According to Wyatt, Bell is visiting the Titans today. The Titans saw longtime tackle Michael Roos retire this offseason, and release Michael Oher, so the club is in the market for a tackle to complement Taylor Lewan, and brought in Joe Barksdale for a visit last week. If Tennessee were to sign Bell, the team would essentially be swapping tackles with the Panthers, with Bell’s old team having signed Oher.

Shit like that is why I'm convinced that most coaches and GMs don't ardently watch film of free agents. I think they see Byron Bell playing in a playoff game and just assume he can be good depth.

Is essentially trading Bell for Oher a good deal?

If sleeping on piss covered sheets is better than sleeping in a barrel of dogshit, then yes, it's a good dead.

I think Bell is perfectly fine for RT depth. He thinks he's more.

Both are no better than backup depth. Bell was paid WAY too much last year only heightening the hatred
