    Panthers general manager Dave Gettleman said today that linebacker Thomas Davis will be next in line for a contract extension, and also suggested that wide receiver Greg Jennings and cornerback Alan Ball are still in play for Carolina — both players have drawn interest from other teams as well, and are taking their time to make decisions.

    Rivera on Newton

    Rivera said he wants to Newton his sharpen his "position-specific skills" this season to become a more polished quarterback.

    "I think he relies so much on his great athleticism that sometimes he's not as sound as he needs to be with his fundamentals," Rivera said. "Now as he continues to grow, I think that's the next step is being sound in everything he does."

    The Bears signed Ray McDonald, who should help John Fox fill multiple holes in 2015.

    I am sure he believes he has to be delicate, it's like ten layers of kid gloves... and it took four years before he ventured to say anything at all.
