    I have a 512 MB DDR3 7950 GT.

Runs the fuck out of any current game. Much cheaper.

Oh I'm sure its a great card, but it can't do DX10. the 8000 series can. I don't have an 8000 series, but if I were gonna blow a shit load of money that's what I'd buy.

yeah, the 8800 is the current beast. i'm not sure about the 8 series, tho. the feel a bit like the 5 series -- total redesign focusing on feature set rather than pure speed. the 5 series sucked balls and was quickly replaced by the 6 series which tightened everything up.

the 9 series will be coming out towards the end of the year or early next, so i would be tempted to wait until then before going wild. at the very least, it would mean the 8 series would be cheaper.

there have been some pretty mixed reviews of the 8600 which aparently is outperformed on current games by the 7900 and 7950. i'm taking a wait and see approach. of course, i'm running on a 6600gt so clearly anything would be an upgrade for me.
