Man, where have the puckheads gone from here :( :( . . . Not one comment on today's NHL WINTER CLASSIC game between the Bruins & Flyers. 2-1 Bahston in OT as night was starting to hit the city . . . This was easily the best game of them all !!!!!!!!

In 2011, the NWC should be in . . .

    1) New York Rangers @ Yankee Stadium II seems to be a no brainer. Perhaps Rangers/Caps on NYD '11 ? ?

    2) Minnesota Wild @ new Target Field or UM Football Stadium (TCF Bank Field). This would be the hottest ticket ever in Minnesota.

    3) Columbus Bluejackets @ 'The Horseshoe'-Largest crowd ever to watch an outdoor NHL game (90k+). Probably would have to be against the Rangers or Pens to help bump up the TV numbers . . .

    4) Carolina Hurricanes @ Carter-Finley Stadium . . . Yeah, if the city can guarantee the NHL that it will be 30 degreees with a foot of snow on the ground :D :D !!!

Scratch 4 off of the list. The Canes have the worst record in hockey and with the climate here, you might as well suggest the Winter Classic be held in Southern California or South Florida. You want it to be COLD, not lukewarm.

The first three options would definitely work.

    Some other options are these:

Calgary Flames @ McMahon Stadium (seats 35,650 for football, but will be expanded to 45,010 for CFL Grey Cup games)

Ottawa Senators @ Frank Clair Stadium (seats 25,659, but with expanded seating could seat over 40,000)

Pittsburgh Penguins @ Heinz Field (seats 65,050)

Boston Bruins @ Gilette Stadium (seats 68,756)

Philadelphia Flyers @ Lincoln Financial Field (seats 67,594)

Chicago Blackhawks @ Soldier Field (seats 61,500)

Washington Capitals @ FedEx Field (seats 91,704)

Colorado Avalanche @ INVESCO Field at Mile High (seats 76,125)

I can see why they want to use the old baseball stadiums, but if they go for the football stadiums, they'll bring in huge crowds not to mention big time gates.

With the current NFL Stadiums, the home teams would have to play their last 2 games of the season on the road to give the NHL enough time to get the rink setup . . Thats why I was suggesting the ballparks. I think the smaller ballparks would be better (Pens at PNC Park would be perfect)

I disagree. When Pittsburgh and Buffalo faced off at Ralph Wilson Stadium you had over 75,000 fans packed into the stadium creating a huge home-rink advantage. Not to mention gate and merchandise sales were at all-time highs.

But Im sure when it comes to a high profile event such as The Winter Classic, the NHL has its' own rink and crew to set up for such an event. I wouldnt mind seeing the Caps and Rangers at FedEx Field to set a world record for most fans to watch a hockey game.

Yeah, the crowds would be bigger obviously . . . If Mr. Snyder doesn't mind playing the last 2 games of the season on the road, then that would be cool. I think the NHL were at Fenway 2 weeks before the game to start the setup. It takes a lot of time to get everything set up (broadcast booths, rink, etc.). I think playing in ballparks create a better atmosphere (kinda like playing the Final Four in a regular arena vs. dome).
