Oh, boy! Is this going to give SS a fatter head?

KFFL | Steve Smith Continues to Deliver - from www.KFFL.com

Steve Smith has become a stud WR. KFFL highlighted Smith once again in the weekly Strong Play, Weak Play article. "Carolina Panthers WR Steve Smith has been shining lately with four straight strong weeks. In that time he is averaging 7.5 receptions (third in NFL) for 110.5 yards and 0.75 TDs per game. He has clearly emerged as the favored target of QB Jake Delhomme and is the only consistently productive member of the Panthers' receiving corps." Smith finished Sunday's game against the Buccaneers with 72 yards receiving and 1 TD. Don't miss out on next weeks Strong Play, Weak Play article. Order the Total Access Package today.

    >>And all of this is coming from a marginal receiver? I just really wonder if the Panthers are going to re-sign him. Is he worth a gamble to re-sign with all of his anger-management problems?

As the Japanese woman in the movie Gung-Ho said, we "are between a lock and a hard-on".;)

There were some really good and really bad things about the passing game on Sunday. Good - "The Drive," Bad - interceptions. Fox seems to be acknowledging Delhomme's development exhibited in the winning drive, but I bet he can't get those previous interceptions out of his head.

The problem is, Fox gets so worried about interceptions, that he all but shuts down the possiblility of getting the passing game warmed up and humming (so it can turn into a well-oiled scoring machine). He's talked repeatedly this year about how Stephen Davis is the kind of running back who warms up or gets better as the game goes on. He recognizes that sometimes he has to remain committed to the running game before it gets going, but he's not willing to do the same thing with the passing game.

The problem is ... we're 7-2. Two years ago we were 1-8 with a west coast offense. Woulda never figured it but Fox's formula is working so far. Enjoy the ride, bitch.

We're gradually throwing more when we need to. The question I have, is why ask for change when we're winning. The grass isn't always greener on the other side. I say keep doing what we're doing, as long as we're winning.

My user name has nothing to do with football. I played baseball in college for a team named rams.

There's nothing I can say about this that I haven't been saying for 63 weeks already. I'm fine with running as a discipline, I'm aggravated with the idea that we can pass well, but limit ourselves passing all the same. There are no one trick ponies in the playoffs and there are plenty of examples of that this year.
