I like this idea :) :) . . . Give Vs. the Mon & Fri night games and then give ESPN the Tue & Thur. nights (kinda like what the NBA has with ESPN & TNT). Give each network conference exclusivity in airing the Conference Championships (one the East, the other the West like TNT has the Western Conference finals of the NBA). Then flip flop between Vs. & ESPN the 1st 2 games of the Stanley Cup finals (a la SUPER BOWL between CBS, ESPN, & FOX) while letting NBC air the rest of the series). good idea :) :) ? ? ?

But there may be options. The NHL is talking to ESPN about returning as a carrier in 2008-09 (on ESPN2). Versus, which owns U.S. cable exclusivity to the NHL, is agreeable to ESPN re-entering the market

I like your idea sds. I know it would be best for the NHL to be on ESPN, but I thought Versus has done a great job of programming. Fuck ESPN for not coming around earlier. I would also prefer Melrose not be the main NHL guy. He is ok, but not real informative.
