Almost 8 years later after the big season tix push was held by the Canes to help generate interest in bringing the NHL All-Star Game to Raleigh (I think this was right around their 2nd playoff appearence, but it was the 1st time the playoffs were held at the ESA) . . . . Ummmm whats the dealo ? ? ? Not enough hotel rooms? Convention center is too small (though Raleigh just opened up a new one I thought)? Not enought to do in the Triangle on a January weekend? Too bad Charlotte couldn't host it :( :( . . . .

How many people would actually care? Seriously, I wonder how many people follow more than their own local team, if they even do that.

My friend and I were two of about 100 people in attendance at a Hurricanes game in '97. I went to cheer the Flyers, but felt so bad about the lack of support that I switched (just for that game). I actually used to follow the sport regularly, but Gary Bettman eventually killed my interest and now I don't follow it at all.

agree. I've said it before, and I'm a huge Hurricanes fan. Get rid of all the teams in the south and west. Give Toronto their second team, and keep all hockey up north and in the Midwest - where it has a chance to succeed and make money. It's too diluted and the quality of hockey would increase while the eurotrash will go back and play their hockey over there.

I enjoy the All Star games when they are just free-wheeling it, and basically hot dogging it. It's not hockey, as you see tougher defense in your Thanksgiving Day football game with your family than in an All Star anything (save for baseball). It's more of a money making thing for the city that hosts. Raleigh (last I checked) wasn't ready to handle that kind of event.

A Tim Horton's and a Canadian Tire would do the trick.

    Easy problem to fix :) :) :) . . .

    1) Setup high end RV's in the parking lots around Carter-Finley Stadium and at the Fairgrounds next door to handle the VIP's and International Press

    2) Raleigh should set up the world's largest tent behind their new Convention Center to host the NHL All-Star Fan events

    3) Open up the State Fair for All-Star Weekend
