The pats keep signing older guys and it's worked out well. I don't see why we can't do the same. I just hope the guys who thought Reggie White/Chuck Smith debacle has no say in this.

I think we're gunshy of vets because of that but if Crumper turns out to be like a Stephen Davis type story then fantastic and at the price we can get him at compared to Clark's number then I'm sold.

I also really like the Moose thing if we still want to invest in Jarrett (which I think we should) as opposed to spending a ton of cash on a 2nd younger WR.

The great thing about Moose is that he will only play a couple more seasons and therefore is not looking for a long term deal. If we chase a young guy he will want a long term deal that could bite us in the ass if he sucks.

Sadly, many Panther fans would make that same statement, and mean it. It makes my head hurt.

    A pack of smokes?

I dunno. Not top tier money.

If we could get both for $5-6 per year, and then address our defensive woes in the draft, I'd be totally down with that.

anywhere I lay my head I'm gonna call my home
    need a guard too.

Certainly, either or both would upgrade us. I think we have a stronger line in on Moose than we do Crumpler, but there's a level of mutual interest with both that should feed something. Getting them doesn't make us instant contenders, but would add instant help to three things we need on O (receiving ability, blocking, consistency).

I'll second that. Our scouting in Round 1 seems to be better on the defensive side of the ball.

If we had both for $5-6 mill, wouldn't we still have some money to (over)pay for one marquee name?

If we sign those two guys and find a quality guard in free agency I would be happy with that and letting the draft handle our needs on D. We would still need to find a second guard in the draft but hopefully that would not be a problem.
