Why would teams double kemo on plays where they intend to pass, wouldn't you want to block the better pass rusher in those situations?

How will we ever live without his 3.5 sacks?

The bottom line is that Kemo was the best run stuffer we had on a defense that struggled to stop the run. Losing him is a bad thing especially when you consider the backups are unproven at best. Outside of QB I can not think of a injury that would have been much worse for us position wise.

Please identify the back up with better than average talent, commit to a name. I promise not to laugh, really (well, you won't be able to hear me).

I agree with Thelt on this, with one difference -- I think I'd sooner lose Jake than Kemo. Not because Kemo's better, but because I'm more comfortable with Matt Moore starting than George Hypolite. Or Corvey Irvin. Or Nick Hayden. Or some other street free agent.

Yes. Matt Moore actually won most of the games he was thrown into a couple of years ago. This defense was in serious need of interior help last year. Like Thelt said, Kemo was the best piece of a very mediocre interior line, and we don't have anyone in the bullpen to really replace him. I may be wrong, but to me it looks like we had Kemo and a bunch of 3-technique DTs.

    Oops.

Matt Moore looked pretty bad last preseason. He didn't seem to progress a bit. I hope he does.
