need adobe to be my default pgm

I had Paint Shop Pro 3.0 as a temporary program. And then i was "given" Adobe Photoshop 5.0. Well, i deleted Paint Shop Pro and hope that all my jpgs and gifs would automatically default to adobe. no such luck. anytime i try to open a pic, i get a msg that tells me the path to the psp.exe (paint shop pro) file can't be found. upsettingly, i had to re-download paint shop pro 3.0. what do i do to get adobe to be my default?

PC's are great like that, aren't they? I tell you I'd like to know the answer to that one. Also, if anyone knows how to get a pc to tell the difference between a photoshop eps and an Illustrator eps, that would be really helpful.

"folder options->file types" will let you adjust all the extensions and which programs launch when double clicking them.

For eps's you could just go ahead and give multiple associations. They'll show up under "open with"...


A lot of programs will automatically associate (or have built in tool to associate) with whatever file types they like.

use explorer, click the file once to highlight it, hold the shift key and left click, select open with...make sure to click the box in the lower left to always use this application for the file type.

Fucking OPERA!!!!

my other problem was that when i wanted to save pics and gifs, i was only given an option to save as a .php file. Finally figured out tonight it was a fucking OPERA issue. All of this time i thought something was wrong with Adobe (thanks twentybelowzero!!). I jumped back to IE tonight and i can save stuff the way it's supposed to be done. Sheesh!!!!

Do this...but right click.

That'll make that single file type ALWAYS open with whatever program you choose at that point. You may have to reboot to take full effect. Unless there is another program that is overly defaulted to take care of that file type.
