how much was it? and why does it suck? what's the best option out there?

Intel Pro Pac is the best deal. Pics are clear as a bell and has all kinds of options and whistles.
They should be about a 100 now. I have spent many a hour in these webcam rooms and the ProPac is top dog for the price. Has video input, you can make movies, you can copy movies that are "copy inhibited", you can send software to friends and send big videos in e-mail.

the intel pc pro is a good camera, it even has a video plugin for your camcorders. I got mine for $79 after a $20 rebate.
