Hell, my new favorite person regardless of his job is Drew Carter. We held our charity kickoff event yesterday and instead of Dan Morgan, we got Drew Carter out. This is one dynamic kid just full of positive energy. When the call went around the locker room asking for someone to fill in for Morgan, Carter was one of the first to volunteer. I got to spend about 3 hours with him and must say it was rewarding to see a guy really embrace this side of his job. We also had Minter, and he is a good motivational type speaker guy and does his job around these events like a pro. But as with most of the players, he treats it as part of his job and that is cool. Watching Carter do this was like watching my 4 year old son do things for the first time. He really dug it and had a deep appreciation for having the opportunity to be a catalyst for raising some cash. BTW, we kicked off yesterday to the tune of $330,000 thanks to both of these guys. Also Kevin Donnelly showed up out of the blue. He is also a class act and since he is not bound by the time restraints of the Panthers handler, he stayed most of the evening just talking to people. Of course he also freely admitted he has nothing else to do these days, retirement is good.

Here are some pics I took. Got them all to sign the party bus and one of Drew hanging out with my son...

I couldn't agree more. He is probably one of the most fan-friendly players that we've ever had. A genuinely nice person.

Wow, is that actually Donnalley?! He looks like Scott Fowler now.

Well he is smaller than during his playing years, but Fowler he is not. Kevin could still hurt most people...

You bus is becoming part of our franchise's history. Maybe one day they will buy it from you and park it out front as a tribute to the fans.

I'd be happy if they bought some gas once in awhile. 120 gallons of diesel is not cheap!

When I met him last year at practice, the best term I can use about him is "genuine". He doesn't come off as putting on a front of any type at all. This is me, I'm not playing a role of any kind. And he's just a happy person.

Great story. I still say that the Panthers get some serious quality people to play for them. Better than most in the league. I think this has to do with all the ills of the past and Jerry Richardson.
