Of course King does, but it's only theoretical. Crumpler can't get leaps and bounds better but King would have to just to sniff Crumpler's ass.

Actually, he only missed two games. And being a former all-pro shouldn't make him more attractive.

Crumpler is still probably better, but we really don't need him, especially in a situation with limited cap room.

We don't need anything. But, to get better, we have to actually like something and go forth with it.

You can't always get what you want.

I read four, but I guess that was wrong. Either way, point is still the same.

Being a former all pro DOES make him more attractive to me, anyway. He isn 't old. He has proven he can do this at a high level. It makes a difference, IMO.

Do we NEED him? Sure, thats debatable. I would say, we NEED to get better on offense, and he's a clear upgrade. This, assuming, is if he clears medically.

I think a blocking TE would help.

Gannt chimes in a little negatively:

The productive yet puzzling veteran skipped town in a huff over money. He still had a few good years left in his old legs, but management didn't feel like he was worth the big raise a long-term deal would mean. So he left, and not long after, was available again.

So do you sign Kevin Greene again, knowing that in 2008 his name is Muhsin Muhammad? A lot of folks are going to clamor for the just-released Chicago WR, but it's hard to tell if it's a good idea, and it does bring back memories of the last time the Panthers did this dance.

Greene was much more useful in his second stint with the Panthers than Muhammad would likely be in a potential next one. After all, Greene put up 27.0 sacks in the two years after his 1997 departure. And Muhammad's reception total has dipped each of the last three seasons (though there's a Rex factor at work there as well), though he'd still be an upgrade over the Carter/Colbert administration.

But just as it did with Greene in the late 90s, bringing back Muhammad now wouldn't be as simple as it seems from a chemistry standpoint. As much as a physical style, Muhammad brings drama that goes way deeper than the surface. He never shied away from blaming others (D.Coy), while at the same time doing many of the small things you wouldn't expect from a prima donna. He's an enigma, thus hard to put into any one convenient box.

Chances are, it's a choice the Panthers won't have to make. I'm not sure they want him back or he wants to come back. But I know it's not nearly as simple as it looks.

Me too, but youre a smart guy, B&B, and you know having a player who can come in and do both, and be a duel threat helps our offense and COULD make a significant difference. Its ok changing players situationally, allowing defenses to better guess what's coming, but it's nice actually having someone who can do both at a high level---like Crumpler can. A player who stays in on running, and passing downs is a very good thing.
