1 QB - he is the team's leader and touches the ball every time on offense
    2. LT - protects the QB's blind side and faces best pass rushers
    3. DT - the first goal on defense is to stop the run, clogging the middle gets that started
    4. MLB - same as with DT it starts with stopping the run in the middle
    5. RT - primary blocker in the run game, he makes the run game work if he is good
    6. RB - a good back makes the OL better and provides a great foundation for an offense
    7. corner - on an island and asked to shut down the fastest guys on the field
    8. wideout - makes game changing plays and keeps defenses out of 8 man fronts
    9. DE - pass rush comes from here but a speed rusher is not too hard to find, Peppers does a lot more than your average DE
    10. WLB/OLB - these guys help in lots of areas but are easier to find and can be plugged if you have good talent at MBL and the DTs
    11. Safety - I think a free safety is a little more valuable than a strong or at least more availble. Really though any big corner can learn to play safety. Lots of guys have done it at the end of their careers and done well.
    12. Fullback - not a critical guy but can add a lot to an offense.
    13. Tight End - It depends on the offense how important he is. There are lots of big guys who are able to play tight end fairly well though.

I left out special teams but obviously a kicker is pretty important.
