I know that only a few people here have talked about Danny Morrison's role in all this.
It's always who Hurney hires, or who JR wants, but Morrison is the hustle guy in all this. Morrison's the guy who'll be waiting in the limo selling our candidate on why he should want us so badly.

Morrison's the guy who'll subtly slip some words into Luck's camp that we want him, and that it'll work. He's lived in college, he knows college.

If JR hired Morrison expecting this particular college coach and college QB as the hires, well, fucking bravo.

    No.
    Let's see.

Richardson's 16-year old franchise has, for instance, outperformed Dallas in the playoffs, 6-1 (including 2 wins vs. Dallas).

His franchise is profitable, always has been, and he managed to build a stadium in a mid-market with private money.

JR might be a lot of things, but a fucking fool, no.

I had similar thoughts when JR hired Morrison and everybody (including me, at first) said "Danny who?"

But he's an accomplished schmoozer, knows everybody in college football and then some, not to mention lots o' the big money guys throughout the southeast, and has a background that's all business all the time. The team president doesn't have to be a talent evaluator or a personnel guy; that's the GM's job. Morrison is the quintessential president.

I hope that Hurney is really up to the job of making the right personnel and draft-day decisions, since some of the recent ones have been questionable at best.
