Panthers fire RB coach John Settle, WR coach Fred Graves and LB coach Warren Belin

I was surprised that they ran into college guys for RBs and LBs, but both guys seemed like OK stock. Graves I'm somewhat surprised on, because he was brought in for Smith. But I guess they solved that.

Still nothing on Matsko. I don't think he performed horribly, but it felt like time to make a change possibly.

Would like to hear that they've decided to hire a STs coach, but who knows.

RB coach sounds like a scapegoat for Chud.

    Skipper coming back?

It looks like we're firing people just to fire people.

maybe so, but it seems like he's cleaning up his worst hires. Given the job he did getting Wilks, there's the hope that something can be added by having more experience. That excludes Graves, but since he was hired so heavily on Smith's side, I guess that makes sense, too.

I jotted down a couple names for each opening and a couple extra guys that wouldn't suck to have:

It seems that we're firing assistants just because JR wants "changes". Doesn't make much sense to me.

Yeah I don't understand this at all. It seems like JR just wants "change" and that's why we're firing people.

I'm hoping the sense of some of these dismissals it is that some coaches they've wanted are now available.

feels good, though there are some good OL coaches available too.

It's one of those things that, they could probably get any of the Chargers coaches that don't go with Norv, if Norv was somewhere that had openings.

FWIW, these hirings were weird from the start. I don't envision Richardson haggling with Rivera over assistants. I would anticipate this is more that Rivera is running out of time if he doesn't have wins, so he's trying to get whatever he can. The presser suggested they wanted more experience.
