Maybe in Rugby, Ben, but not in professional American football.

If nothing else, it would be funnier than hell to see him working for us, but I don't think he would fit anywhere. We're fine with Trgo as DC, Perry is a good DB coach, and Fajole hasn't done quite enough damage to get replaced. If he's pals with Fox, we might bring him on as a consultant for a year. Not sure that would really help or hurt us, but I could live with it.

Mora interviews for Dolphins coaching job

    By STEVE WYCHE
    The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

    Published on: 01/06/07

Jim Mora, fired Monday as the Falcons' head coach, interviewed with Dolphins' officials in Atlanta on Friday about Miami's head coaching job, vacated Thursday when Nick Saban resigned to take over at Alabama.

"As we speak," Mora's agent Bob LaMonte said Friday afternoon, regarding Mora's interview with the Dolphins. "They called me to see if my candidate list online [of coaches he represents] was correct. The people they were interested in were Jim, Mike Sherman and Mike Martz."

The rapid turnabout for Mora shows that he is still regarded as head coach material, something Falcons owner Arthur Blank suggested would be the case at Monday's press conference announcing Mora's termination.

"There is no question in my mind that Jim Mora will be successful in the NFL," Blank said. "He'll be back again as a head football coach, and I'm sure, at some point, we'll be facing him across the other side of the field."

The Dolphins are among five teams with coaching vacancies. The Falcons, Arizona Cardinals and Oakland Raiders fired their coaches. Bill Cowher resigned from the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Mora, given a contract extension last summer guaranteed through 2008, was fired after finishing 7-9 and out of the playoffs for the second straight year. It was the worst mark in Mora's three-year reign, which started with an 11-5 record and a berth in the NFC championship game in 2004 — Mora's first season as an NFL head coach.

His overall record was 26-22, making him the second coach in Atlanta's 40-year franchise history to be fired with a winning record.

Blank did not cite the reasons as to why Mora was fired, but in a November interview with the AJC said the Falcons needed to finish better than 8-8 and get into the playoffs. Dropping 13 of 17 games after 6-2 and 5-2 starts in 2005 and 2006, respectively, factored heavily into Blank choosing to release Mora from his contract, persons with knowledge of the situation told the AJC late last week.

Falcons appoint Bobby Petrino as new head coach
    January 7, 2007
    [IMG] Bobby Petrino Bio

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that Bobby Petrino has been named the club's new head coach.
[IMG]Joining the Falcons from the University of Louisville, Petrino, 45, has compiled a 41-9 overall record as the head coach of the Cardinals the past four years. During his tenure, Petrino put the Cardinals football program on the national map, earning the reputation as one of college football's top coaches and offensive minds.
"This is an exciting day for the Atlanta Falcons franchise," said Falcons Owner and CEO Arthur Blank. "Bobby Petrino is an extremely talented football coach who has done some tremendously innovative things as both an offensive coordinator and head coach, and he brings to us a record of success at the collegiate and professional levels. There is no question that he has a sharp mind, he is demanding and disciplined, and he is a motivator and developer of players. In short, he's a difference maker who will bring a strong identity to the Falcons - one our team will buy into and take on as their own."

Petrino's Cardinals finished the 2006 season ranked No. 5 in the country - their highest ranking in school history. The 12-1 Cardinals capped the 2006 season last week with a 24-13 win over No. 15th ranked Wake Forest in the FedEx Orange Bowl.
"First and foremost, I thank Arthur and Rich for what I truly feel is the best job in the National Football League," Petrino said. "I am excited about the challenge that awaits me in Atlanta, and I'm equally excited about the potential that I see in this team. I look forward to getting to know the players.
"I also want to thank University of Louisville president Dr. James Ramsey and Director of Athletics Tom Jurich for all they have done for me and my family," Petrino added. "I'll never forget my time as a member of the Cardinals family."
The Falcons have scheduled a 2:00 pm (ET) press conference on Monday, January 8, at the team's training facility in Flowery Branch to introduce Petrino.
