FWIW, didn't Jordan state that he wouldn't stick around if they didn't do certain things...what was it, Jackson? And they chose that almost defiantly?

Favre supposedly wanted Mariucci, or else, and they didn't go for that (why?). I don't know if that was true, since it was never stated outright.

Did Vick actually have input on this?

And hiring Mariucci isn't smart. He's probably the most able coach out there right now, and I like him, but they just failed trying to make Vick a WCO QB. Mariucci may do better, but it's still not the right philosophy for them.

Plus, right now he could probably snag Knapp as part of his interview "plan" - who he'd get. Knapp is a name. And that's not really applicable at all with Atlanta.

My point was that Jordan was untouchable and thus had the ultimate leverage. He hated Krause because he was all ego with very little to show for it, much like one of our more infamous posters here.

Me too, but I have the feeling they'll go with an offensive minded guy. Unless they decide to move past Vick as the QB, which would shock me.

I know, just referring to his idiotic radio interview--that was likely the last straw for A Blank.

    >>>>Falcons | Team receives permission to interview Singletary
    Wed, 3 Jan 2007 21:35:17 -0800
Steve Wyche, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports the Atlanta Falcons have received permission to interview San Francisco 49ers assistant head coach Mike Singletary. He will likely meet with team officials within the next week.<<<<

They won’t get Chow and hopefully someone else gets Whisenhunt (didn't he play for the falcons?). I don’t know a damn thing about Singletary as a coach but as a player and a man he’s top notch and based on that alone I don’t want him going to Asslanta . . . Those ball lickers don’t deserve him.

I think they're gonna promote Singletary to DC in SF, and I also feel that Atlanta will want an offensive minded HC this time. I like the hell out of Singletary and would hate to see him there.

From Charlotte Observer Q&A food for thought for those wanting Henning out (yes it is RUMOR)

Hey Scott, I just found out that the Falcons have fired Jim Mora. This is probably just wishful thinking, but wouldn't he make a great Offensive Coordinator? With Atlanta consistently ranked #1 in rush offence, you'd think he'd be able to squeeze some life out of our rushing attack.
    Ben, Australia 1/01/07

ABen: Actually, Fox wanted to hire Mora as his defensive coordinator before Mora got the Atlanta job... It's not impossible that he will join this coaching staff at some point, but right now there are no obvious openings.
    Scott Fowler 1/03/07

    Ick, Mora here?
