Before I go out and buy a new monitor I need to ask some of you guru's here a question or two. Ok, twice now when I turn my computer on and monitor comes on, I get a straight line across the monitor. The first time it happened we took the monitor apart and cleaned things, hoping maybe there was dirt or hair or something that was doing it. We even took the fuse out to see if that was it. We put it back together and the monitor worked for a good two weeks. Well last night it did it again. Turned the thing on and I got a straight line. You could see in the line the colors and things coming up and all. I took it apart last night but nothing. Took it apart again today and now the monitor is working. For how long I dont know. I even took my monitor and put it on my daughters computer and it did the same thing so I know it isnt in the tower. Would anyone here have any idea what could be happening? Moister, fuse, dirt, hair? I only have had this computer since 1999 and I have seen monitors that have worked longer and in areas where by all rights the things should have given up after a day lol. What should I look for? Please help me save some money here lol. I know 160 to 200 bucks aint much to some but right now for me it is. Im being as cheap as cheap can get right now. hehehehehhehehe. Oh by the way, if you dont want to get scared, dont open up your monitor, especially if your a smoker, the stuff you find in there aint pretty lol. Yes Im a smoker if that will help any. I dont and wont smoke around my computer anymore because of what I heard the tar can do to your stuff. Thanks

When the monitor went out the first time, we went to the Savation Army, Goodwill and to a couple of pawn shops here in Monroe. Nobody had any at that time. Our next city to look in will be Charlotte.

Still if you keep your fingers out of it. you can take off the back and blow it out, that red clay here is murder on electronics, and it gets into everything.
