And I want a second starting corner too, but I just don't see the value there in free agency as opposed to last season when Wilson or Rogers could have been had very cheaply. If Claiborne is there at 8/9 then let's run that card to the podium, but he won't be and I'm just not impressed by Kirkpatrick (ironic because I used to be skeptical of Claiborne and pushing Kirkpatrick before I watched them each specifically).

cool. also curious if you could elaborate about 'attacking the zone'. does that relate to how effective they would be blocking 'backers and safeties on the second level?

any other later round guard prospects out there that might stick out as far was what we're looking for? I'm assuming Hangartner's not coming back, and would think they'd like to add someone to go with Schwartz.

    That's because you're stupid.

Total Rushing Yards for 2011: 2408

    Average yards per carry: 5.4

Three players topped 700 yards rushing. No team has ever done that before in the history of the National Football League.

Oh yeah, I almost forgot - you're the guy who doesn't want to draft defense, just offense. And instead of getting a corner or DE, get a G high.

The zones are the areas between or outside the tackles. Basically whether the OL helps on the double team or yes, heads out to blast a linebacker. Does big take away from their ability to make those athletic blocks. For instance, Otah being inside, how well can he slide, pull, ect., ect.

I think that's what mags is referring to? If not, my apologies.

to the first part, yes. Buzzwords you'd want to read (or see if you can) include foot work, athleticism in short space, good words about understanding angles, and certainly again discussion about reaching the second level and so on. Attacking the zone, to me, suggests not only being adept at it, but almost hungering for it like you would an inline block. Really wanting to go find a ************ and make him pay for being in a spot you want him out of.

Kevin Zeitler, Wisconsin, is a good one. Most people are focusing on Konz, the center, who will go in the 20-35 range, but both are good zone prospects. They come from our system. Speaking of centers, Phillip Blake from Baylor, having not seen him much, is consistent and has guard size (6'4, 320), and does a good job moving in space between the tackles (but doesn't seem to pull as well). NW's Al Netter makes sense, but is currently at OT.

Derek Dennis might be a project but moves well for a 325 lb guy, needs to work on his technique a bit. Jaymes Brooks is interesting.

Since I mentioned scheme, spread linemen - even, or especially honestly, zone option read schemes, as the difference between the spread option runs and the belly/zone/lead/whatever you want to call the modern zone read pro runs, is small. You're blocking zone flat out instead of power (no fullback or puller), and the runner is reading the onside DT or DE based on the intent of the call.
