The lowdown on the first minicamp...

    according to Darrin Gantt:

    First look at minicamp notes
Submitted by Darin on Fri, 2008-05-02 08:53.
-- QB Jake Delhomme threw exactly 34 passes Friday morning during individual drills as he eases back from Tommy John surgery. He'd like to do more, but he knows he can't, so he'll work patiently to be ready for training camp.

-- Rookie Charles Godfrey's thrown right in, working with the first team at free safety.

-- Neither of the first-round picks practiced because of existing injuries. RB Jonathan Stewart (toe) should be ready for training camp, while OT Jeff Otah (ankle) should return for June camp.

-- As we reported this morning, DE Julius Peppers lined up on the right side, replacing Mike Rucker there. Tyler Brayton worked with the starters on the left.

-- MLB Jon Beason didn't work, after having minor wrist surgery Wednesday. Nothing serious.

-- Everybody was there, other than rookie free agent DT Brandon Jenkins, who didn't sign his contract after failing his physical.

wow... that would suck. Finally get signed on as a Free Agent after not being drafted, and fail your physical.
