CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Ill. (AP) — Milwaukee Bucks star Glenn Robinson was arrested early Saturday and charged with domestic battery, assault and illegal possession of a firearm.
Robinson remained in custody late Saturday waiting for a bond hearing Sunday morning, Chicago Heights Police Department Sgt. David Wierzbicki said.
Robinson had a firearm when he was arrested, but did not have a valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification card, Wierzbicki said. Police would not release further details.
A message left at the home of Bucks spokeswoman Cheri Hanson was not immediately returned Saturday night.
Robinson, the former Purdue player, was the NBA’s top draft pick in 1994 and signed a 10-year, $68 million contract with Milwaukee. He later signed a $12 million contract extension for the 2004-05 season.
Before the 1999-00 season, Robinson was arrested outside a Miami nightclub on disorderly intoxication charges.

the NBA and MLB are in trouble. I am no longer so hot about getting an NBA team back in Charlotte. Unless they make major changes, start actually applying the morality clauses built into most contracts, etc, both sports will die.

That is true Sly. For a kid that grew up knowing every Yankee player in the 60s and 70s, I am almost through with baseball and pro basketball is a complete joke.

I think you are right....the problem in Charlotte was years of Anthony Mason and other players getting into trouble with the law.

People like to blame the owners because they are easy targets....well, about 90% of all owners in all pro-sports are hated in their cities. I don't think people want to spend money to watch thugs like Mason and Iverson. There used to be a time when you had legit role models for kids, now those days are over.

Bobby Phils jersey was retired after he was breaking the law and almost killed innocent people while killing himself. Great example for the youth of today.
The numerous drunk drivings by a list of people. George Shinn hanging out at drug rehab.

I think the NBA would be fine if they did two things:

1) No more of this guaranteed contract bullshit. If a guy fucks up on Sunday in the NFL, he might be hitting the pavement looking for work on Monday. Even if he screws up on Sunday night at the post-game party he may be on the street come Monday. This is a good thing. Without a guaranteed contract, Big Dog could be hitting the pavement as we speak. We could call this the "Rod Strickland" rule on honor of that sorry punk.

2) Quit marketing individual stars over teams. This has fostered the "look at me" mentality that many of the stars seem to suffer from today. Their selfishness is killing a game that I love to play and still love to watch when done right. I'm not talking about the dumbass selfishness that players exhibit OFF the court (that could be solved by #1), but the stupidity of players who have not figured out that you can't win if you don't play together. I also got pretty damn tired of watching 10 years of isolation plays in the 90's. I don't give a fuck about how someone "got posterized" on a dunk. I want to win. If that means bank shots from 12-feet - so be it. It's boring, but it still counts. The "tweener" jumper is a lost art.

I have no solution for baseball. Those guys are screwing up royally.

I've been a sports fan ever since I was knee high, but lately my feelings have changed due to rampant greed and selfishness by some of the players, especially in the NBA and MLB.

Boy do I miss the decade of great teams with great players in the 70s and early 80s. Players generally stayed with the same team for a long, long time, and a lot of the time they had the same coach - for example - Lakers with Riley coaching Magic, Kareem, Cooper, Worthy, & Green and Celtics with KC Jones coaching Bird, Parrish, Johnson, McHale, and Ainge. Not so today. All this mixing and matching, and exorbitant salaries for rookies who haven't even stepped foot on the court. All outrageous if you ask me. No thought at all or loyalty to the fans who pay their salaries. No, it's all "me, me, me" for these players!
