With Texas and Oklahoma joining the SEC in 2024 it's going to be the SEC vs the rest of the NCAA in football

The NFL has a rookie wage scale and a salary cap.

and a union negotiated such things. Ncaa players unionized yet? Who are they negotiating with? The NIL deals are theoretically outside of ncaa/school/conference direct control.

What happens when some rookies are making more in college than they will make on their rookie salary? Is it possible that Alabama's team salary might one day be higher than the NFL's salary cap?

This will happen. If you agree with Pres and don't like a scale that encourages these kids to stay in school, that's fine. But without any cap at all, it won't be long before they will be making more than they would on a rookie NFL contract. What do you do when someone offers Arch Manning $10m a year to play at their Alma Mater? There are a lot of boosters out there with very deep pockets.

This might be a time where having the games richest owner works out instead of him letting rhule spend it all on magic beans.

And if college money gets big enough maybe the nfl will have to make moves to improve the product. I can dream can't i?

A little off topic, but have you see Bud Grant's proposals? If so, what do you think of them?

On topic, the salary cap is already getting stupid-high. You think Deshaun Watson's contract is too high? Just wait...

Let's keep it in the thread where it's posted.

The cap is both growing too much and will soon be outspent by a bunch of guys that lost theiir virginity to a bear bryant blow up. The cap can be lower by new cba where the players get less money- Jerry Jones could use another Gulfstream- or revenues in general go down.

Or I guess you could get a law passed to lower wages for players, sen sanders.
