I heard this guy named Marv Levy was pretty decent. Shockingly, Wade Phillips also had a successful run there. Even Jauron wasn't terrible. Mularkey is really just a guy you want as your OC, and you shouldn't make him head coach just to get his offense.

True. In fact, I'd much rather have a true OC than an offensive-minded head coach, since trying to do both jobs generally means that you do both badly. I agree about dumping Davidson helping tremendously, but what scared the shit out of me as Panthers fan was how bad the offensive line looked this past season. I understand that missing Otah hurt, but it's not like we were just shitty at right tackle. Plus, the offensive line is the highest paid unit on the team. If they're shitty, then we're really fucked.

Mularkey started out his first campaign as Bills head coach with a record of 0–4. He rallied his team to a 9–7 record by the end of the season, however, sparked by a six-game winning streak during which the Bills scored more points than in any other similar stretch in franchise history. This has been their last winning season to date.

On January 25, 2008 it was announced that he would become the next offensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons In his first season at Atlanta , Mularkey helped the offense to be the second place in the league with 152.5 rushing yards per game, also finished 10th in scoring with 24.4 (up from 29th in 2007) and 6th in yards with 361.2 per game.

The defense really took off for that run more than the offense, not that it mattered since they both choked against the Steelers B team

I realize that you have to get all your information from Wikipedia because you don't actually have any knowledge of your own, but someone with a brain and a passing familiarity with the NFL would remember that Atlanta was a great rushing team before Mularkey, they just had a laughable offense in '07 due to the Petrino debacle (and Vick). But again, no one is saying that Mularkey is a bad OC. He's above average, but he's not the type of elite offensive mind for whom you would be willing to make him head coach just to get his offense.

And for the record, Mularkey won six games down that stretch because they played St. Louis, Seattle, Miami (4-12 that season), Cleveland, Cincinnati, and San Francisco. When evaluating any team or coach, you should always check the schedule.

Murlarkey would be a great hire as HC... and it'd take a little away from a division rival

I am not for hiring Mularkey either. I have not been that impressed with him even as an OC.
